Identification of SSR Molecular Markers for Jassid Resistance in Cotton

Background: This study has focussed on identifying the Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) markers associated with sucking pests (more precisely jassid) tolerance/resistance loci. The was initiated 4348 mapped SSR to differentiate between resistant (R-1) and susceptible (BS-1) genotypes. Out of (retrieved from cotton microsatellite database cottongen.org) used,17 were showing polymorphism parental lines. Methods: F1 population generated by crossing Resistant line elite Susceptible (Bs-1). progeny selfed obtain F2 population. Following screening, identify trait, Single Marker Analysis performed. Result: results indicated that two seventeen polymorphic - BL1646 DOW047 had significant LoD 4.5 7.2 respectively PVE% 6.6 10.3 respectively. Hence, these identified as jassid resistance trait having potential for their use in marker assisted selection (MAS).
